This LD Dump is the perfect compromise between the long bed of the Regular Cab model, and the dumping ability of the HD Dump models. Note that if you are going to be doing regular, serious dumping (particularly dumping and hauling of heavy loads such as gravel), then you should consider the HD Dump model with its reinforced bed instead.
Pair your LD Dump mini truck with a Fisher plow and make it even more useful clearing snow in the long winter months. Ask about how you can accessorize your LD Dump and get a plow already paired to your LD Dump as a package deal.
Finally, just because you’re working doesn’t mean you shouldn’t remain comfortable with this mini truck’s fully weatherproof sealed steel-shell cab that keeps the elements out while making sure you stay pleasantly warm or cool with heat and AC. With its 4×4 powertrain, off-road rims and tires, and practical feature set, this Hijet LD Dump represents incredible value as well as being a real step up from what you’re used to with regular UTVs from companies like Kubota.
Engine & powertrain
This LD Dump model has a 660cc KF-series three-cylinder engine, mounted under the cab for stability and a lower center of gravity. More sophisticated than a regular UTV engine, this unit runs on gasoline and has electronic fuel injection to return well over 35 MPG fuel economy (almost double that of a regular UTV) but with such quiet running that even using it around highly strung livestock isn’t a problem. Maximum torque kicks in at 4,000 rpm so it has more than enough for any hauling or climbing tasks you care to throw at it.
This model comes with a 5-speed manual transmission that has built-in hi-lo selectable range so you’re in full control at all times. This is particularly useful in the most extreme off-road situations when you are ascending or descending very steep terrain when selecting the ultra-low range gives you the ultimate level of control and torque pulling power. That extra torque push can also be very useful if you’re towing a loaded trailer, helping you build momentum smoothly even on the slipperiest surfaces. Putting the power down through those off-road wheels is the job of the electronic 4×4 system that monitors traction and switches automatically between two- and four-wheel drive as conditions require. And if things get particularly sticky, there’s a rear locking diff to maximize traction.
Interior & comfort
This LD Dump model has a weatherproof cab with air conditioning, heat, and a defroster as standard to keep things comfortable in any season. You’ll find the seats are more comfortable than the basic plastic ones you find in typical UTVs, but with the hard-wearing water-resistant practicality you expect from a working vehicle. Plus, it’s so easy to keep things tidy with the glove box, large door pockets, and even cup holders. Striking the right balance between practicality, durability, and comfort, this cab is the place you’ll want to be when you have to go out into your fields to work.
load bed & hauling
With a box that’s 6 ft 2 in long, 4 ft 7 in wide, and 11 in deep, there’s an abundance of capacity for both hauling gear or dumping loads. Not quite as big as the Regular Cab model bed, but still much larger than you would get from a traditional work UTV. Note that if you need to dump heavier loads, such as gravel, then the HD Dump model would be better for your needs. This is more of a ‘gentleman’s dump truck’ so is well suited for the occasional dump usage, such as for land management or a job site work UTV, but not for regular heavy commercial use, which is more of the HD Dump’s remit.
The dump action is powered by a dedicated hydraulic ram that pitches the bed up to 50 degrees to ensure the load gets moving and dumps smoothly. Although there is no gravity gate that just swings open when dumping, it can be dropped manually. The electro-hydraulic mechanism can be operated both when the mini truck is stationary, or when it’s moving, which is particularly useful if you are a farmer or rancher, as you can raise the bed at low speeds to spread feed evenly across a field.
You can also use that bed just as you would the bed in any of our fixed-bed models. Pop the cotter pins and you can drop the two sides and rear gate to get them out of the way for loading and unloading. After all, it’s all very well having a long bed, but you don’t want to strain your back reaching back there with a heavy bag of feed. The bed itself is just over 2 feet off the ground, but the drop sides make access to it much easier and more ergonomic.
